Botanica is a demonstration store built as a portfolio piece. It does not trade, take payment or ship goods. This policy is written as it would be for a real shop, and describes what such a shop would do with your information.
Who we are
Botanica makes small-batch natural skincare in the Cotswolds. For anything about this policy or your data, write to hello@botanica.test.
What we collect
When you place an order we collect your name, billing and delivery address, email address and phone number. We record what you bought, when, and the amount paid.
When you browse the shop we store a cart cookie so your basket survives between pages. If you contact us, we keep that correspondence.
We never see your card details. Payments are handled by our payment provider; card numbers are passed directly to them and are not stored on this site.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To fulfil your order — taking payment, packing and delivering it, and handling returns. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- To meet our legal duties — keeping sales and tax records. Legal basis: legal obligation.
- To answer your questions — replying to emails and resolving problems. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- To send you our newsletter — only if you ask us to. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Who we share it with
Only those who need it to get your order to you: our payment provider, our delivery carrier, and our email provider if you have subscribed. Each handles your data under its own agreement with us and may not use it for anything else.
Cookies
This site sets cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work — remembering your basket and keeping you signed in at checkout. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though the basket will stop working if you do.
How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for six years, as UK tax law requires. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. General correspondence is kept for two years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or send it to another provider. You can object to processing we base on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent for marketing at any time.
Email hello@botanica.test and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date below.
